Bible Verses About Healing
Healing is woven throughout the entire Bible. From the Old Testament promises of restoration to the New Testament ministry of Jesus, God reveals Himself as a healer who cares deeply about the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Jesus spent much of His earthly ministry healing the sick, the brokenhearted, and the oppressed, demonstrating that the kingdom of God brings restoration to every area of human suffering.
The Bible presents healing as both a present reality and an ultimate hope. God heals in response to prayer, through medical care, through the prayers of others, and sometimes in ways we do not expect. And while not every prayer for physical healing is answered the way we hope, every believer has the ultimate promise of complete healing in the resurrection, when God will wipe away every tear and remove all pain.
If you or someone you love needs healing, these verses are a foundation for prayer, faith, and trust in God's goodness, no matter what the outcome.
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
— Isaiah 53:5
"He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."
— Psalm 107:20
"For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD."
— Jeremiah 30:17
"Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up."
— James 5:14-15
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."
— 1 Peter 2:24
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
— Psalm 103:2-3
The Bible invites us to pray boldly for healing while trusting God's sovereign wisdom. James 5:14-15 instructs the sick to call for the elders of the church, be anointed with oil, and receive the prayer of faith. This is not a formula but a relationship — bringing our needs to a loving Father who hears, cares, and acts.
If you are seeking healing, pray with faith, surround yourself with believers who will pray with you, and trust God's goodness regardless of the outcome. He is the same God who healed in the Bible, and He is working in your life today. Even when healing comes in unexpected ways or in the life to come, God's promise of restoration is sure.
Isaiah 53:5 is one of the most powerful healing verses: 'with his stripes we are healed.' Psalm 103:2-3 is also beloved: God 'forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.' James 5:14-15 gives practical instruction for praying for the sick.
Yes. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He heals in response to prayer, through medical care, through the prayers of others, and in His own perfect way and timing. While not every prayer is answered as we hope, God's healing power is still active today.
Pray with faith and honesty, bringing your specific needs to God. James 5:14-15 encourages calling for church elders to pray and anoint with oil. Ask others to pray with you, trust God's goodness, and remain open to how He chooses to bring healing.
1 Peter 2:24 says Jesus bore our sins so we could live unto righteousness, 'by whose stripes ye were healed.' Spiritual healing — the restoration of our relationship with God — is the deepest healing, available to all who trust in Christ.
