Fasting Guide

The 7-Day Fast

A seven-day fast is a significant commitment. It is a week of your life set apart entirely for God — a declaration that you are serious about what you are seeking, serious about who He is, and willing to sacrifice to draw closer to Him. Seven is the number of completion in Scripture. A seven-day fast says to God, "I am giving You a complete week. My hunger, my schedule, my comfort — all of it."

This kind of fast will change you. Not just spiritually, but in the way you see food, the way you see yourself, and the way you relate to God. By the end of seven days, you will have built a discipline in your spirit that will serve you for years.

Daily Themes

Day 1

Consecration

Begin with confession and surrender. Lay down every area of your life before God. Ask Him to search your heart and reveal anything that is blocking your connection to Him.

Day 2

Repentance & Cleansing

Spend this day dealing with the deep things — unforgiveness, bitterness, pride, fear. Pray through any relationship or situation where you need healing or where you have caused harm.

Day 3

Identity

Who does God say you are? Fast from every voice that has told you otherwise. Spend this day in the Psalms and meditate on who you are as a child of God.

Day 4

Purpose & Calling

Ask God to clarify your assignment. What has He placed in your hands? What are you supposed to be building? Seek direction for the next season of your life.

Day 5

Warfare & Deliverance

Take authority over every spiritual assignment against your life, your family, and your future. Pray the whole armor of God. Declare freedom in every area that has felt bound.

Day 6

Intercession

Turn outward. Pray for others — family, friends, your city, the nation, the nations of the earth. Come before God as an intercessor, not just a petitioner.

Day 7

Thanksgiving & Expectation

Thank God for everything He has done, is doing, and is about to do. Enter into praise and declare the promises of God over your life. Close the week with faith and anticipation.

What Type of Fast Should You Do?

For a 7-day fast, the Daniel Fast is the most sustainable for most people — fruits, vegetables, and water only. A full water fast for 7 days is possible for experienced fasters but should be approached carefully and with medical awareness. Whatever you choose, the type of fast matters far less than the posture of your heart.
