Healing Prayer
God is a healer. Not was — is. Exodus 15:26 records His name as Jehovah Rapha, meaning "The Lord Who Heals You." That name is not historical. It is present tense. It is a declaration of His nature. He heals bodies. He heals minds. He heals marriages. He heals the wounds that no doctor can diagnose and no medication can reach. And He still does it today, through the authority of the name of Jesus and the prayer of faith.
James 5:14-15 instructs believers to call for the elders of the church, to anoint with oil, and to pray over the sick — "and the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well." This is not a suggestion. This is the design of the Church. Prayer for healing is not something reserved for a select few — it is available to every believer who approaches God with faith.
Isaiah 53:5
"But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed."
Psalm 103:2-3
"Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases."
Matthew 8:17
"He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases."
Jeremiah 30:17
"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord."
3 John 1:2
"Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well."
"Father God, I come before You as Jehovah Rapha — the Lord my Healer. I stand on Your Word that declares by the stripes of Jesus I am healed. I bring my body, my mind, and every area of my health before You right now, and I ask You to release Your healing power into every cell, every tissue, every organ. Where disease has taken hold, I command it to leave in the name of Jesus. Where pain has settled in, I declare it has no authority to remain. I reject every report that contradicts Your Word, and I choose to believe that what You have said about me is more true than what I am feeling right now. Heal me, Lord. Restore me. And let my healing bring You glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen."
